HOUSING ADVOCATES USA
Housing Californians Through Advocacy
Housing - Resources, Workshops & Financing Options
Our Work
Housing Advocates USA (HAUSA) is a statewide California nonprofit founded on a simple, unwavering belief: Everyone deserves a safe and stable place to call home. As a 501(c)(3) public benefit organization and nonprofit real estate brokerage, HAUSA works at the critical intersection of housing education, financial empowerment, and equitable access to homeownership.
California is the fifth largest economy in the world—yet it also has one of the most severe housing crises in the nation. Nearly half of all renters are rent-burdened, paying more than 30% of their income toward housing. The median home price has soared to more than $850,000, more than 2.5 times the national average, pushing the dream of homeownership out of reach for countless working families. Homeownership gaps continue to deepen: while roughly 63% of white households in California own their homes, rates drop to 42% among Latino families and 35% among Black families, reflecting persistent and systemic barriers.
HAUSA was created to close these gaps by providing the knowledge, tools, and support families need to overcome financial obstacles, understand first-time homebuyer opportunities, and pursue permanent housing solutions with confidence.
We offer budget, credit, financial counseling, tax preparation guidance, and lender referral for first-time home buyer programs.
Our Mission
HAUSA empowers California residents by providing housing and real estate services that ensures that the community has access to safe and sustainable housing. We provide stabilized and permanent housing options to individuals and families.
